It's been a while since I've blogged! What's new? I became vegan Jan 1st after not so good blood work results, deleted dating apps/not pursuing dating, focusing more on God and fitness, oh and....this pandemic that we are in. Stupid covid-19. I hate you. Ugh. Yeah, it sucks. Really sucks. Sisters wedding got postponed, my birthday party cancelled, vacation trip cancelled, and it's hard to get toilet paper. Going on day 11 of staying home. I've resorted to climbing around my house, pillow fights with my kids, running (and I hate cardio), and wearing the same clothes a couple of days in a row. Thank God I have a home gym. BUT...looking at the positives...I don't have to wash my hair! So, last year in May, I saw a video of this lady saying it's not good to wash your hair everyday and if you want thick luscious hair, only wash it once a week. What?! I literally wash my hair every single day. I never thought I had issues with my hair - no balding, or thinning hair, but I do shed A LOT! I always wondered how I wasn't balding from how much hair I lost a day! The video sold me though...I do want thick luscious hair, so what the heck, I gave it a shot. I should have taken better/hair specific before and afters, but never thought I'd write a blog about it. haha Sorry about the boobs in your face, but I can tell a huge difference in my hair! I don't shed as much and I get my hair cut a lot more than I did before. My hair grows crazy fast! (It didn't before). So what did I do? and what does not washing hair mean? So the first few months were hard. I called it 'hair training.' No shampoo and conditioner. Just washed with water. My showers felt weird and short. I decided to pick a day to be my hair washing day - Friday. It works because if I went out during the weekend, I had nice smooth, clean, straight hair. By the end of the week, especially Thursdays were rough. My hair was greasy and gross! The first few weeks were disgusting! Just two days without washing my hair, and it looked like I dumped olive oil on my head. Talk about being single/dating and looking like you just got out of a shower that will never dry, but nope...it's grease. Ugh. I have a memory of me explaining to a guy why my hair felt gross. I wanted to give up and wash my hair, especially when I had that date, but I'm not a quitter ;). So I stuck with it! Probably why I'm still single. Kidding! As weeks passed, my hair didn't get as greasy! It was getting use to not being washed. Hair training was over! Fast forward to today, I still only wash my hair on Fridays. Minus now, since we are in this pandemic, I'm going as long as I can till I wash my hair! Bets on how long? Hah I'm missing sports since everything is cancelled. ugh. covid-19...but perfect time to start hair training...don't wash your hair! You're stuck inside your house, don't need to impress anyone ;). I do believe my hair is a lot healthier. For a while, I used an average priced shampoo and conditioner. I decided to splurge since I hardly wash my hair, and use Olaplex. I use their Hair Perfector (No. 3) as a hair masque, then Shampoo (No. 4), then Conditioner (No. 5). Some times I skip the Hair Perfector and use Nexxus Keraphix Masque (my FAV...I use this after I shampoo and condition). I also take vitamins every day and try to eat right. I think that has a lot to do with your hair. So eat your veggies! I take a women's multivitamin with collagen, and a hair, skin, and nails vitamin with biotin. I also take algae oil (omega 3), and vitamin c (doesn't have to do with my hair, but if you were curious). The before picture below - I don't have red hair, it's just the filter my friend used for the pic, but my hair is not as full as now! Questions? Feel free to message me on Instagram! I know one you might have..."I workout every day, my hair gets super sweaty. Would this work for me?" YES. I workout 6 days a week. I sweat a lot. I shower, and just let water run through my hair. After I get out, I spray coconut Hask Monoi Coconut Oil 5-in-1 Leave-In-Spray. I plan to try out their new Keratin protein spray, switch it up a bit. Your hair will get use to not being washed. It took me a few months, but now it's use to it. I'm not sponsored by these products! They work for me. I love them! Picture taken a couple of days ago. Haven't washed my hair in over a week! Thank you for stopping by! Let me know how it goes!
Love, KQL
