Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to the mountain 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. - Matthew 17:20 Divorce is a horrible ugly thing. I hate it. I wanted my husband to change and I wanted to forgive. Friends reached out and offered great advice (thank you!). All had the same advice - trust in the Lord, give it all to the Lord, and just concentrate on you and the kids. So that's what I'm doing. Throughout this storm, God never left my side. Faith is what kept me grounded. I'm going to keep taking leaps of faith, and continue to live in God's words. This home decor was not as hard as I thought! I used scrap wood, and paint I had around the house. I started by finally opening the Ryobi scroll saw I ordered from Home Depot a few weeks ago. I looked on YouTube to see how to put it together and how to use it. I couldn't find anything! Luckily, after reading the directions, it was mostly put together and easy to use! I love it! To get the word "faith" on the wood, I used my Silhouette Cameo and printed it on paper. I then put the paper on the wood and traced the letters. It made indention's on the wood. I later found out, I could have taped the piece of paper to the wood and used the scroll saw. I'll have to try that next time. The scroll saw was easy and fun to use! Although I do not know how to sew, the scroll saw reminded me of a sewing machine, but cutting wood. It's more because of the look of the machines. :) I used left over wood stain I had from another project for the border, used the metallic spray paint I used from my last blog post for the word 'faith,' and pink spray paint I got at Target for the background. I wish the word faith was more like the top of the metallic spray can cap, but it works. I thought about adding glitter to the wood cut, but decided not to. Maybe next time :)! GIVEAWAY! That's the only line I know of that Rhianna song. Now it's going to be stuck in your head ;) . Since the blog launch date, I've received many messages from people saying I've inspired them. Thank you, that means so much to me! I've heard many stories about taking a leap of faith, going through divorce, trying new things, etc. You all inspire me! So just like that song, "SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND. Find light in the beautiful sea. I choose to be happy...we're like diamonds in the sky. You're a shooting star I see," Keep shining bright! I'm starting to pack my house, but wanted to make things "shine bright" before the big move. I went to Lowe's and saw this pretty Metallic spray paint. I then went to Dollar Tree - there was so many possibilities, I can spray paint the whole store ;). Here are just a few ideas, If you have others, send it to me! I'll post on my twitter and facebook! Refrigerator magnet letters and numbers. I just went outside, turned them right side up and sprayed. Be sure to let it dry. Scotty grabbed the "Y" a little too early. She wanted to play with her name before putting in on the fridge. These will go in my future house, Would love a craft/work room!
Send me pictures of your "shine bright like a diamond" designs! Love, KQL Today comes with mixed emotions, I thought my divorce would be finalized today. I waited to launch my blog on this date not only because I’ve been praying for today but because I'm starting a new journey, taking a leap of faith. The past few months have been rough, but God is amazing and never left my side. I started trying new things - picked up a power tool I had no clue how to use! Now I'm in love with woodworking. My first project was a Prayer Board. It was perfect because of what I was going through and it was an easy first project. DIY Prayer Board - - pallet; tools to take apart pallet (hammer, etc) - 1-1/4in screws -stain (I used Minwax Dark Walnut) -chalkboard paint -white paint pen -clips to hold the prayers -mason jar -pipe clamp Tools: -screwdriver -pliers -flat head screwdriver -saw (I used a Ryobi circular saw I borrowed from my neighbor, but a jigsaw or hand saw would work) I used an old pallet I found in the garage. It was my first time taking apart the pallet, so this step took the longest! I took all the boards off the top (each was 39 inches long) and laid them side by side. A few of them were not in good shape or broke while I was taking the pallet apart, so I used some from the back of the pallet as well. I used 7 boards for the front of the prayer board. Next, I took three additional boards from the pallet and laid them behind and perpendicular to the 7 pieces of original board - one on each edge and one in the middle. I used the circular saw to cut the wood to height (26 inches). I flipped everything over so the 7 boards would be on top of the three support boards. I then used the 1-1/4in screws and screwed the boards to the supports. 1-2 on each piece of wood on each edge and one in the middle. I stained the top 5 boards, and sprayed chalkboard paint on the bottom two. Once it dried, I attached the mason jar to the bottom right corner of the prayer board. I found this DIY blog on Pinterest: she tells you how to attach the mason jar to wood - http://diyjoy.com/mason-jar-crafts-diy-organization After attaching the mason jar, I printed the words "prayers" and "verse" on the prayer board. I used a ballpoint pen to trace it on the wood, and then used the white paint pen to paint over it. I used hot glue to secure the clothes hanger clips onto the prayer board. I bought the clothes hanger clips at Michaels; they had a variety of clips to choose from! Finally, I prayed over the board. I started writing prayers on pieces of cardstock and clipping them to the board. My son even wrote a prayer and clipped it on. Once we felt our prayers were answered, we put the prayers we'd jotted down in the mason jar to remember how great and powerful God is! I'd love to see your prayer board! Post it to my Facebook, tag me on Instagram, or tweet me!
